The many different kinds of miniatures are, or have been, produced by a wide range of companies. For this website we have collated a list of producers of model figures, flat figures, toys or so-called Toy figures and Wargame figures.
The difference is clear: model miniatures usually have to be put together and painted and are always fully three-dimensional''[JH1] , unlike flat figures, which are usually also bought unpainted. Toy miniatures, which are often painted, were originally made to be played with but are now mainly collector’s items, and are also produced for that purpose. Wargame miniatures are smaller figures which are, of course, designed for playing war games.
