Tankman
No, not a toysoldier, but a plastic miniature that does not accidentally have the dimensions of a 70mm model figure with a green colour.
This is an art project by the Spanish artist Fernando Sánchez Castillo. The project was called 'Tankman' and referred to the man who stopped a row of tanks during the uprising of students in China in 1989. The photo of the man in front of the tanks is iconic.
The artwork consisted of an image of 5 meters high and several images in full size. There were also hundreds of green plastic tankman figures that were put on the exhibitions. The art project that was shown in many world cities was a protest against the brutal act and oppression of freedom on Tiananem Square.
A model figure as a work of art and a political statement. The smaller green figures meanwhile spread everywhere and we also received one.
